Finding a Proctor

RESNET proctoring guidelines can be found here and as of January 1, 2024 new regulations about remote proctoring are in effect, which can be found here.

Computer Requirements:  High speed internet access (not dial up), with Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows 7 (Windows 98 or Windows ME can be used if Visual Basic 6.0 SP5 is installed).

Locate a proctor and schedule the exam at a date and time convenient to you. While you may schedule your test at any time during the week, please note that you may not be able to reach our staff if you schedule your test at a time that is outside of regular business hours (9AM - 5PM Monday - Friday).
The proctor must agree to:

  • Check photo ID of student;
  • Help student log on to exam site (http://test.resnet.us);
  • Provide student with Username and Password to access exam (will be sent to proctor by NEHERS registrar);
  • Visually monitor student during exam to verify that student is not assisted by anyone, does not make or receive any phone calls, does not access e-mail or text messaging during the exam, and does not leave the examination area until the exam is completed.
  • Must be in the room at all times with the student.

In order for us to coordinate this, please complete the following steps:

  • Reach out to Emily at emily@nehers.org to let her know that you want to set up an exam with a local proctor.
  • She will take our $50 set-up fee payment over the phone.
  • You will need to find a proctor near you, most people use a local library or school. (It has to be an uninterested 3rd party, it can't be someone you know).
  • Provide Emily the following info:
    • Proctor name (first and last)
    • Proctor title
    • Proctor Address (including City, State and Zip)
    • Proctor phone
    • Proctor email
    • Time and date agreed upon with the proctor.
  • We will verify with the proctor whether they can meet the RESNET proctoring requirements. If they can, we will send a confirmation email to them with your exam codes and an email to you that the test is set up. If they can't, you will need to look for another proctor.
  • If this is your first attempt at the exam, you will need to pay RESNET for the exam at the time you log in to take the test. (CAZ = $200, Rater Sim = $200, and Rater Exam = $125). If you've already attempted the exam, you will need to pay RESNET each time you take the Rater Exam, but you have 5 attempts at the other two before you need to repay for the software licenses.

To allow NEHERS enough time to communicate with your proctor and confirm the arrangements, please register for your exam at least 7 business prior to your exam date.
