Apply to Become a Mentor

Become a Mentor for our Mentorship Program and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the HERS Industry in Massachusetts! As a mentor, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with individual(s) who are matched with you based on demographics, interests, and location. This ensures that each participant entering the field receives personalized career guidance from seasoned professionals like yourself, in addition to the support they will already be receiving from our staff and their job placement/employer.

By sharing your institutional knowledge and expertise, you'll help aspiring RFIs, HERS Modelers and HERS Raters navigate their career paths with confidence. No teaching experience or preparation is required – just a passion for helping others succeed and a commitment to dedicating approximately 30 minutes to one hour per week (or more if you'd like!) throughout the course of the program, which typically lasts about 3 months.

Responsibilities of mentors include meeting regularly with their mentee(s), providing guidance and mentorship, and communicating regularly with the NEHERS staff about how things are going and if you are aware of any additional support needed for each student. There will also be opportunities to be a "Guest Technical Expert" for some of the online classes. Again, no preparation or lecturing is required, it's just about being available on a given day during the training class so that students have access to some of their mentors while going through the training.

Whether or not you're a resident of Massachusetts, if you have HERS Rater experience, we welcome your participation. Don't miss this chance to make a meaningful impact and inspire the next generation of industry leaders. If you are interested in applying to become a mentor or have any questions, please email Emily Anderson emily@nehers.org or call 413-282-8346.
