Description: RESNET Quality Assurance Designee

In the role of Quality Assurance Designee (QAD), you will play a vital role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of energy efficiency ratings for residential buildings within our northeast region. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive quality assurance activities, reviewing energy models, performing field inspections, and collaborating with HERS Raters and other stakeholders to uphold industry standards. The ideal candidate must hold the RESNET QAD designation and possess a background in single-family and multifamily residential construction, with expertise in ENERGY STAR, Indoor airPLUS, and ZERH programs. *Some consideration may be made for a HERS Rater with 10+ years of proven experience in these areas with an expectation of earning the QAD designation within 90 days of employment.


What will you do?

Position responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Conduct thorough quality assurance reviews of energy models and supporting documentation for rating files for residential buildings.
  • Perform field inspections to verify compliance with RESNET and other program requirements.
  • Collaborate with HERS Raters, RFIs, and HERS Modelers to address any discrepancies and provide guidance on improvement measures.
  • Keep abreast of industry advancements and changes in energy efficiency regulations to maintain a high level of expertise.
  • Prepare detailed reports on quality assurance findings and provide recommendations for continued improvement. This includes all required QA documentation for RESNET, EPA, and DOE programs.
  • Assist the Team in development and implementation of quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Participate in regional and national meetings and training events as required

This position is remote with occasional overnight travel required. Preference may be given based on geographic proximity to clients or customers. 

Need to Have:

  • Certified RESNET Quality Assurance Designee (QAD)*.
  • Proven experience in conducting quality assurance activities in the residential construction sector.
  • Familiarity with residential single-family and multifamily energy efficiency programs.
  • Expertise in ENERGY STAR and ZERH programs.
  • Strong knowledge of energy modeling software and rating protocols. Ekotrope or REM/Rate, familiarity with both is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting while maintaining productivity and meeting deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% within the northeast region

Nice to Have:

  • Background in construction, engineering, architecture, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications related to energy efficiency and site safety 
  • Prior experience with remote work and virtual collaboration tools (Teams, Zoom)

This can be a remote or office-based hybrid position. Flexibility to come to a PSD office on an occasional basis is desired but not required.  

Physical Demands: Frequent use of the computer requiring periods of sitting and close audio-visual concentration. Physical demands are minimal and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations.
