Senior Building Science Analyst

The Sr. Building Science Analyst will be responsible for reviewing project documentation for accuracy, completeness and provide technical support to participating trade allies within the Residential Energy Efficiency Programs under the New Jersey Clean Energy Program (NJCEP).

This position will require excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide technical training and guidance for the participating trade allies within NJCEP.

The Sr. Building Science Analyst will also conduct inspections of participating contractors’ work to ensure it meets the program and client quality standards.

In this role, the ideal candidate will stay current on the latest Program guidelines, policies, procedures, etc. and propose ideas for improvement.  This position will also develop advanced technical knowledge in energy efficiency and building science.   

Description:

  • Provide technical guidance to internal staff, contractors/partners on addressing program or residential    construction needs or issues both remotely and onsite. Provides in-house or on-site technical training to trade allies and internal staff as required.
  • Perform complete and accurate quality assurance technical review of submitted project documentation to verify that all specifications comply with applicable industry and program requirements.
  • Perform technical review of internal field staff QA/QC inspection reports.
  • Document findings of each technical review, notifying and collaborating with appropriate personnel who need to assist with resolution.
  • Track and accurately enter all required data in the program database in a timely manner.  Provides proper and timely reporting of program progress.
  • Ensures Program Partners are aware of all current program guidelines and requirements.
  • Ability to problem solve and thoroughly explain the resolution to an audience of different levels.

Requirements:

  •  Bachelors Degree in Building Science preferred
  •  BPI Analyst and Envelope Certification required
  •  RESNET Certification preferred
  •  Extensive knowledge of residential building science and energy conservation are key attributes for this position along with experience in existing home repair, renovation, and construction.
  • 5 + years of experience in building diagnostics, air infiltration reduction and sidewall and attic insulation.
  • Strong customer service and client relationship management skills and enthusiasm for energy conservation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical and program concepts to contractors, customers, and other interested stakeholders.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with concentration in Excel is required
  • Familiarity with computerized building energy modeling software such as REMRate, ResCheck and Real Home Analyzer (RHA), Manual J, or other residential construction software is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
